Cats’ Eye View

September 3, 2010

KobeHi all! It’s Kobe here. Ozzy and I were so happy so see so many of our feline friends – 162 of them, in fact, – leaving the shelter with their new families during our big adoption promotion last Friday and Saturday.

Last week, our shelter was way FULL of wonderful felines and we had more coming in every day who needed our care – Help Our Friendswe just had to do something drastic to help them.   So we sent out a plea for help to our wonderful community and waived the adoption fee for cats over the age of one and adopted kittens out for only $10 to reinforce the desperate need.  Well, guess what happened?  Hundreds of wonderful people came to our shelter last Friday and Saturday looking to adopt cats and kittens--so many that in two days, 161 cats and kittens got new families!  OzzyOzzy’s mommy was in the adoption areas all day Saturday, and she met many of the wonderful adopters and was able to say thank you for coming to the APL for their new feline friend.  After all, all the APL cats and kittens were spayed or neutered and had all their shots.  It was a heartwarming two days, and the best part is 161 families now have new cats to love!!!!

The only sad thing is not all the cats got adopted, and some of them have been waiting here for a long time. We figured out that most of the cats left behind were the shy, quiet ones. They don’t have the gift of gab like Ozzy and me, so it’s easy for them to get overlooked.

JaquilinOne of them is Joaquin, a 4-year-old big brown tabby. He came in as a stray back in April and has been waiting for someone to take him home ever since!! When you see Joaquin’s picture on our website, he looks really serious, so we wanted to show you another side to his personality. He’s a lot of fun once he gets to know you!!

If you want to find out more about Joaquin or any of the other animals at the Cleveland APL, you can call our adoption desk at 216-771-4616 or come on down and meet them. Tell ‘em Kobe and Ozzy sent you!!

Until next week…

Love and purrs,
Kobe and Ozzy
