For the entire month of May, anyone who brings in their bib or registration information for the marathon (or 5k, 10k, or ½ marathon) will get a $1 off of their adoption fee for every mile they run. 

We've been invited to be a part of this weekend's Rite-Aid Cleveland Marathon and we're taking the opportunity and running with it! We'll have a “Bark Squad” cheering on race participants as they pass the Cleveland APL Sunday morning. We’ve recruited some of our Cleveland APL volunteers (and adoptable dogs) to be part of the Bark Squad, but we’d love to have their family, friends, co-workers and neighbors join the effort, too. Please arrive at the shelter no later than 7:45 a.m. as the “peak time” for runners and walkers to pass the APL, which is on Mile 9 of the course, will be between 8 and 9:30.

Willey Avenue will be closed starting at 6:00 a.m. and lasting through the race. You will need to park on an adjacent street if you plan on attending.

Joe Thomas, first-round draft pick and five-time NFL pro-bowler for the Cleveland Browns, is the newest local celebrity to sponsor Cleveland APL adoptable pets.  During the month of May, Joe and his wife Annie are hoping to help area animal lovers become just as passionate as they are about making shelter pets the first choice for pet adoption.
